YAVAPAI COUNTY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Neighborhood members and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Workplace are rallying for the sergeant who was shot and killed.

Sgt. Richard Lopez was shot after he was responding to a name and ended up in an hours-long standoff in Cordes Lakes. He died surrounded by his household at a Phoenix hospital on Tuesday.

Tips on how to assist the household

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Workplace says you’ll be able to ship checks, cash orders, cashier’s checks, or money to their workplace if you want to make a donation. All checks should be made out to the division’s worker fund with “Benevolence Fund: Richard Lopez “written on the memo line. Cash will be mailed to or dropped at the Sheriff’s Workplace with “Consideration Kelly Fraher,” and the deal with: 255 East Gurley Avenue, Prescott, AZ 86301.

The incident was the 19th officer-involved capturing exterior of Maricopa County and the 50th total within the state in 2022.
