A baggage handler was killed when her hair received tangled in a belt loader at a New Orleans airport on Tuesday evening, in keeping with officers.

Jermani Thompson, 26, was working at Louis Armstrong New Orleans Worldwide Airport on August 30 when the freak accident unfolded. She was employed by GAT Airline Floor Help. 

At round 10 p.m., Thompson’s hair received caught in a belt loader whereas she was unloading luggage from a Frontier Airways airplane on the tarmac.

She was rushed to a neighborhood hospital and pronounced useless. The horrific accident prompted Frontier Airways to cancel a flight on Wednesday.

Her tragic dying result in an outpouring of condolences from the aviation organizations concerned. 

“The Louis Armstrong New Orleans Worldwide Airport extends its honest condolences to her household and mates, and likewise to our companions at GAT and Frontier Airways,” the airport’s Director of Aviation Kevin Dolliole instructed Fox Information Digital. 

“Jermani was part of our Airport household, and we’ll proceed to help each other in any manner we will throughout this attempting time,” Dolliole added.

“We prolong our deepest condolences following the tragic dying of a member of our floor dealing with enterprise companion,” a Frontier Airways spokesperson mentioned within the wake of the tragic accident. “Our ideas are together with her household and family members throughout this tough time.”

Thompson was remembered by household and mates for being a tough employee and large basketball fan. She performed the game whereas she was a scholar at Hesston School and Tougaloo School.

“She was a basketball guru, [she’d] do something you ask her to do,” Thompson’s mom, Angela Corsey, instructed FOX eight New Orleans. “I simply can’t imagine it, you realize, my solely daughter is gone.” 

Frontier Airways mentioned they prolonged “their deepest condolences” over the tragic accident.
