With mother and father throughout the Valley on the brink of ship their children again to highschool, some are questioning if their kid’s campus is protected.

Throughout the Area One Safety Convention held Monday, a Valley pupil spoke with officers from native legislation enforcement companies and Valley faculty districts to share her experiences as a survivor of a faculty capturing.

Amanda Martínez, a junior with the Rio Grande Metropolis Consolidated Unbiased College District, recalled how she survived a faculty capturing as a kindergartener in Miguel Alemán, Mexico.

Martinez mentioned she remembers having to put flat in the course of the capturing.

“I simply need folks to know that it’s extremely horrible to reside via one thing like that,” Martinez mentioned. “Individuals assume that as a result of they’re within the U.S. that they are protected and that nothing like that might ever occur. However the fact is, it’ll.”

With the current Uvalde faculty capturing, officers from Area One will likely be checking safety measures in any respect public colleges.
