Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan on Saturday clarified that the 5% GST on pre-packaged and pre-labelled gadgets was elevated regardless of Tamil Nadu expressing its objection.

In an announcement right here, he stated the Tamil Nadu authorities wrote a letter to the GST council arguing that the rise of GST on rice, curd, buttermilk and different gadgets would severely have an effect on the frequent individuals.

“We conveyed our objection in written kind after the Group of Ministers, headed by Karnataka Chief Minister, on Items and Providers Tax (GST), made its suggestions. Tamil Nadu shouldn’t be a member of the group,” Mr. Thiaga Rajan defined.

He stated Tamil Nadu had reiterated its stand within the fitment committee additionally.
