KALKASKA COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2) – A girl is going through identification theft costs after her brother turned over proof displaying she made unlawful use of a bank card when she ran one below her deceased mother’s identify. 

The 34-year-old lady from South Boardman, south of Kalkaska, additionally used her lifeless mother’s identification to use for added playing cards.

Michigan State Police say a person got here ahead in April 2022 with a report of alleged identification theft dedicated by a member of the family. The person mentioned his sister, Sarah-Lea Marie Helsel, had spent over $12,000 on her mother’s bank card. 

A search warrant was performed at Helsel’s residence and proof was seized. 

A report was then turned over to the Kalkaska County Prosecutor’s Workplace and an arrest warrant was licensed July 17. She later turned herself into authorities on Aug. 3.

Helsel was hit with a slew of identification theft costs throughout her arraignment this week.
