SOMERS, NY — City of Somers residents are being requested to donate backpacks to youngsters locally.

The Sharing Shelf is coordinating its “Backpacks to College” initiative and is accepting backpacks till Aug. 24.

The group plans to supply not less than 1,500 backpacks to youngsters and teenagers, and seeks to lift $50,000 for this mission.
